      Practice Areas

Family law is all we do. That means you can count on us to give your case our full and undivided attention.

We help solve serious family law problems covering a broad range of issues.

      Child Custody & Access

The law in British Columbia no longer speaks of child custody and access. It speaks of parenting time and decision-making responsibility. Our laws now emphasize the rights of the children, not the needs of the parents.

Nevertheless, working out a set of parenting orders is no less stressful, especially if you and your spouse don’t agree on what the best interests of your children happen to be. Our team is highly adept at putting together parenting orders that work.

      Child Support

For many parents, child support arrangements will be relatively straightforward. Yet for high earners and business owners, the landscape looks a little different. Child support is also quite difficult to calculate for contractors and others who have variable income.

We help create fair child support arrangements in special circumstances. Whether you need extra child support to meet a child’s extra needs or you need to stop the court from using child support as a wealth transfer from a high earning parent, as the guidelines tend to break down as incomes go higher.

      Court Orders

Need to have your court orders modified as your circumstances change? Our team can help you manage your court orders, even years after your divorce.

Seeking a separation or ending a common law partnership? Let us protect your agreements with the right court orders and separation agreements.

      Spousal Support

Maintenance is a major issue for most divorcing couples. Those who need it tend to be afraid they’ll be left with very little money to live on. Those who are being asked to pay it fear that they’ll be asked to pay a massive check they can’t afford every single month.

Fortunately there are numerous solutions we can use to make spousal support fair and workable for both parties.

      Dividing Assets

Dividing asserts is rarely as straightforward as writing a pair of checks for the same amounts. There are a lot of complications that go into dividing both assets and debts.

We can help ensure that the eventual division of your assets is fair to the extent allowable by Canadian law. We can also help you protect the value of income-bearing assets, assuring they can continue to function once the division of assets is complete.

Tell us which assets it is most important for you to retain control over, and we will work hard to help you negotiate a deal that your spouse will accept, or that a judge will back.

      Wills & Estates

Did you know that estate planning is a major part of family law? Our team can help you set up a plan that will allow you to protect all of your loved ones after your death. Estate planning is financial planning and covers several phases of your life, as well as your death.

We can also help you set up a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement—a major part of the estate planning process. All marriages end, either as a result of death or as the result of a divorce. Make sure that you are prepared for that end.
